Refer a Friend T&Cs
BikeLife Cover – Refer a Friend Scheme
Terms and Conditions
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions govern the BikeLife Cover “Refer a Friend” scheme (the “Scheme”).
By taking part in the Scheme, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and any additional rules set out on the Refer a Friend page on the BikeLife Cover website.
The Scheme is operated by BikeLife Cover (“we”, “us”, “our”), a trading name of [insert legal entity and company number], whose registered office is at [insert address], United Kingdom.
2. Eligibility
The Scheme is open to individuals who are:
- Resident in the United Kingdom; and
- Aged 18 or over at the date of making a referral.
Employees, contractors and agents of BikeLife Cover, and their immediate family members, may be excluded from the Scheme or subject to separate internal rules.
You (“Referrer”) must be an existing or previous customer, or a user of our services or content.
The person you refer (“Referred Friend”) must:
- Be resident in the United Kingdom;
- Be aged 18 or over; and
- Not already be an existing customer, active lead, or policyholder with BikeLife Cover or our partners at the time of the referral.
3. Data protection and consent
Before submitting a referral, you must obtain the Referred Friend’s explicit consent to share their personal details (for example, full name, phone number, email address) with BikeLife Cover and its authorised partners for the purposes of the Scheme.
You confirm that any personal data you provide about a Referred Friend is accurate, up to date and shared lawfully in line with UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
We will process personal data as a controller for the purposes of administering the Scheme, arranging advice and quotes, and fulfilling any rewards. Further details on how we use personal data, including your rights, are set out in our Privacy Policy.
We may contact the Referred Friend to confirm that they consent to the referral and to offer them information, quotes or advice about suitable protection products.
4. How the Scheme works
To make a referral, you must:
- Complete the online Refer a Friend form or any other method we make available; and
- Provide all compulsory information requested, including your own contact details and those of the Referred Friend.
A referral will only be considered valid once we have received the completed form and verified that both you and the Referred Friend meet these eligibility requirements.
The Scheme is intended only for genuine personal referrals. You must not use paid advertising, bulk email, automated systems, social media groups or any form of public posting to generate referrals on a commercial basis.
5. Qualifying policies
A “Qualifying Policy” is a new protection policy (such as life insurance, critical illness cover, income protection or any other product we specify) taken out by a Referred Friend through one of our authorised partners following a valid referral.
The types of Qualifying Policy, minimum premium level and minimum term required will be specified on the Refer a Friend page and may change from time to time.
A policy will not be treated as a Qualifying Policy if it is cancelled, lapses or is made void during any initial cooling‑off period or before the minimum number of monthly premiums has been paid, as stated on the Scheme page.
We and our partners reserve the right to decline an application for a policy in accordance with underwriting rules and regulatory requirements. There is no obligation to offer a policy to any Referred Friend.
6. Referral rewards
If a Referred Friend takes out a Qualifying Policy as a direct result of your referral and all conditions in these Terms and Conditions are met, you will be entitled to receive the reward described on the Refer a Friend page (the “Reward”).
Only one Referrer is eligible for a Reward per Referred Friend. If more than one person refers the same Referred Friend, the Reward will be allocated to the referral we reasonably determine to have been received first.
Rewards are personal and non‑transferable. We may offer Rewards as vouchers, gift cards or similar benefits. No cash alternative is available unless we choose to offer one at our discretion.
We reserve the right to substitute any Reward with another reward of equal or greater value where necessary, for example if a particular gift card is no longer available.
Rewards will be issued within a reasonable period after confirmation that:
- A Qualifying Policy has started; and
- The minimum number of required premiums has been paid and the policy remains in force.
7. Tax and financial implications
Any tax liability or other financial implication arising from the receipt of a Reward is your responsibility. We do not provide tax advice; you should seek independent advice if you are unsure of the consequences of receiving a Reward.
8. Prohibited conduct
You must not:
- Refer yourself or attempt to obtain a Reward for taking out your own policy;
- Misrepresent the nature of our services, our partners or the Scheme;
- Provide false or misleading information about a Referred Friend;
- Make referrals in bulk or in a way that could be considered spam or unsolicited marketing under UK law, including the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
We may withhold or cancel any Reward and/or exclude you from the Scheme if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms and Conditions, acted fraudulently or abused the Scheme.
9. Relationship with advice and products
BikeLife Cover does not provide regulated financial advice. Advice on specific products and insurers is provided by our authorised partners, who are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Any decision to apply for or purchase a policy is made solely between the Referred Friend and the partner adviser and/or insurer. We do not guarantee that any policy will be suitable or that cover will be offered.
10. Our responsibility
We will operate the Scheme with reasonable care and skill but do not accept liability for:
- Any loss arising from a partner’s advice or actions;
- Any refusal by an insurer to offer a policy or pay a claim; or
- Any technical issues that prevent forms being submitted or processed.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under the laws of England and Wales.
11. Changes to or ending the Scheme
We may amend, suspend or withdraw the Scheme, or these Terms and Conditions, at any time.
If we withdraw the Scheme, we will honour valid Rewards for Qualifying Policies where the referral was submitted before the withdrawal date, provided all conditions are satisfied.
12. Contact details

13. Governing law
These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction in relation to these Terms and Conditions, except that if you are resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring a claim in the courts of your home jurisdiction.
